Villa Vals - SeArch

When confronted with the opportunity to construct a holiday home close to the famous thermal baths in Vals (by Zumthor), SeArch / Bjarne Mastenbroek, in cooperation with Christian Müller did something surprising. Instead of creating an extra icon, which would attempt to be more present than the Zumthor building, the idea was to leave all the views in tact.
The building doesn´t put itself in the forground or obstruct the exiting qualities, since it is embedded in the mountainside. By introducing a large patio, a great outlook over the mountainscape is enabled from the building. A great way to deal with such a sensible location. In case you are wondering how one can enter the house? The nearby old Graubünder barn functions as an entrace, coneected to the house with an underground tunnel...
