EnviroMission Solar Tower

Some ideas just sound so rediculous that you just got to love them... Like this Solar Tower. EnviroMission had an idea: they wanted to build a huge tower, somewhere in the Australian outback. This tower would be used to generate solar energy for about 200.000 Australian households. The technique will not so much be based on photovoltaic cells, but it will be the world's first largesolar thermal power station.
But it's more than that: because of the scale of the building it will attract tons of attention for renewable energy and draw tourists and economical activity to the area. Well, we'll have to see about that...

EnviroMission is currently in the final feasibility phase of development, so hopefully construction will start some day soon.
